Osteoarthritis (OA) is a major cause of disability in elderly populations around the globe. World Health Organization (WHO) estimates the occurrence of symptomatic OA in Europe between in 10% to 18%, in people aged 60 years or older, and approximately 30% prevalence over the age of 65. As the global population continues to age, the burden of osteoarthritis will increase dramatically.

Osteoarthritis is also the most common joint disorder in the United States. CDC (Center for Disease Control and prevention) estimated that over 32 million adults in the US have doctor-diagnosed osteoarthritis,

Osteoarthritis affected more than 40 million people across Europe. With a lifetime risk of 35-45% for knee OA and 25% for hip OA.

It is estimated that 130 million people will suffer from osteoarthritis by 2050, among these 40 million people will be severely disabled by OA.

Coral Star Medical is a private company founded in 2018 to fulfill the Unmet Need in treatment of OA. The company has already developed the product’s first functional prototype of Active Knee Brace for the treatment of osteoarthritis and other joint diseases.
